Biogéochimie des éléments traces

L' équipe Biogéochimie des éléments traces étudie la dynamique des éléments traces métalliques et métalloïdes dans le contexte de la qualité sanitaire et nutritive des cultures alimentaires et fourragères.
 
L'objectif global est de garantir que les cultures fourragères et alimentaires  respectent les limites réglementaires pour leur teneur en éléments traces (ET) contaminants (Cd, Pb, As) en fonction des conditions environnementales (sol, climat) et des pratiques agricoles. Les axes scientifiques que nous étudions sont :

Lavage de racine
  • La modélisation du stock et de la disponibilité des éléments traces dans les sols cultivés : répartition des ET entre la phase solide et la solution du sol, spéciation des ET dans la solution du sol, notamment la complexation. Les réactions sont modélisées à la fois en cinétique et à l'équilibre.
  • La modélisation de l'absorption des ET par le système racinaire et la répartition des ET entre les différents organes végétaux : relation entre l`absorption et l`architecture racinaire, variabilité génétique pour les différents mécanismes d`absorption et de répartition des ET entre organes, remobilisation des ET des organes végétatifs vers les organes reproducteurs.
  • La construction d'un modèle intégratif prédisant le transfert des ET du sol vers les parties comestibles de la plante. Intégration de ce  modèle  dans un modèle de culture pour prédire la concentration en ET dans les organes de la plante en fonction du développement de la plante et en fonction du climat et des pratiques.

Les principaux éléments traces étudiés sont le Cd, le Cu, le Zn, le Pb et les cultures sont le blé, le tournesol, le maïs, la laitue... Une part importante de notre recherche est consacrée aux sols calcaires et à la gestion de la matière organique (résidus végétaux, recyclage des déchets organiques).

  • Mise en solution des ET à partir d'échantillons de plantes et de sol par digestion acide (DigiPrep, digestions par micro-ondes)
    culture en solution nutritive
  • Quantification des éléments traces par spectroscopie d'absorption (flamme et four graphite) et d'émission atomique 
  • Traçage radio-isotopique (109Cd, 65Zn,), laboratoireagrémentés et serre , comptage par scintillation.
  • Evaluation de la disponibilité physico-chimique des éléments traces dans les sols : extractions séquentielles, DGT, estimation du partage sol/solution des ET par dilution isotopique, expériences de sorption/désorption, estimation de la spéciation des ET dans la solution du sol par modélisation chimique et par une méthode utilisant une résine échangeuse d'ions.
  • Culture de plantes en solution nutritive, en conditions contrôlées
  • Mesures de l'architecture racinaire par digitalisation du système racinaire et analyse d'images (WinRhizo)
  • Analyse de la sève du xylem (éléments traces mais aussi sucre, acides aminés et organiques en collaboration avec l'unité métabolomique du centre de recherche INRA de Bordeaux)
