Research project

My main research interest relates to evolutionary changes in trees in response to climate and anthropogenic changes. I am reconstructing tree histories at different geographical and temporal scales using modern and ancient DNA approaches and fossil distribution data. My current project aims at studying the pace of microevolution in European white oaks during the Holocene based on ancient genomics. In this context I am developing techniques and methodologies for ancient DNA recovery from oak wood remains coming from across Europe and from throughout the Holocene followed by analyzing the endogenous and exogenous DNA content of the extracts.
