Title

Comparison of beneficial microbial diversity in three Vitis vinifera cultivars to improve grapevine sustainable production

Abstract

Our main objective is to find a suitable and environmental friendly method, i.e. biological control, that can be applied in vinyards in France and South Africa. For that purpose; the localization, the composition and the functions of the microbiome from the woody tissues of 3 cultivars planted in France and in South Africa will be first characterized and compared.

For the first time, the evolution of the microbiota and its function will be analysed over a two-year period in healthy grapevines and grapevines that expressed esca-foliar symptoms. Our aim is also to find markers linked to the pathogenic or protective processes in the plants. Some beneficial microorganisms that colonise the wood tissues or the roots of grapevines will be used, either alone or in combination, to control GTDs.
